Thanks everyone who came to the Love art opening on Friday, July 2nd! It was a beautiful show curated by Justin Olerud. I had so much fun doing the "Conquer with Love" installation in the window. For Drake

Here's a little terrarium that I custom made for Drake Logan, the curator of SoCha Cafe (among others in the Mission). Check out her new project, This is not an oil spill: a film by Drake Logan. She's in Florida working on it now. Good luck Drake! My heart goes out to all the living things that are being damaged in this horrible disaster.

I'm now showing terrariums at SoCha Cafe in San Francisco. Go check them out if you're in the area! The cafe also has awesome food and drinks, live music every night, art on the walls and a laid back vibe. What more could you want?

...The show is less than a week away and I still don't know what I'm doing. I love the theme and I have so many ideas swimming around in my brain, I just can't decide. Oh boy.

Anyway, it should be a really awesome show. Come on out and see some amazing Bay Area artists!!!

Katie's Coffee Table Terrarium

My friend Katie was tired of paying for flowers every week for her coffee table, so she asked me to make her a terrarium. I was super excited for this project because I love her style. I secretly wish I lived in her apartment... it's so cute. Very chic and sassy, yet comfortable and laid back. So she provided me with the container, and the rest was magic..........

Silver-nerved Fittonia, China Doll, Hypoestes, airplants, pebbles and rocks, and a butterfly.

The Milk Bottle holds a Zebrina jew, rocks, and tiny Ganesha statue.

It was a birthday gift for a friend, but I have a whole case of these bottles so there will definitely be more!

The "Hanging Gardens" terrarium

The terrarium itself is a repurposed antique light fixture. Plants inside are silver nerved fittonia, aluminum plant, baby tears, and moss. Hanging are handmade stone planters, tillandsia bulbosa, and fools gold.

Featured in A Rockridge Life, my good friend Elizabeth's blog. Be sure to check out her arrangements too... she is an amazing floral designer.

Babylon

Tomorrow night is the "Babylon" art opening at 4707. I'm putting the final touches on my terrarium before I drive it over to the studio...

Inspiration came from the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The gardens were built by King Nebuchadnezzar II, around 600 b.c., as a gift to his wife. (How romantic!) Here is a sneak peek:
